I’ll be welcoming a new mini team member soon to Flourish! A solid pregnancy skincare routine is crucial because the skin is prone to more pigmentation due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. These are my staples for myself, and are what I recommend for almost every pregnant client.
#1 Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that improves the effectiveness of your SPF and helps keep an even skin tone. Our favorite: Vitamin C+.
#2 Rosaderm Solution
The Rosaderm Solution contains licorice which has been shown to be just as effective as kojic acid at brightening the skin. It is also anti-inflammatory which is important as blood volume increases and some women may be prone to more redness, inflammation or broken capillaries during pregnancy.
#3 Sunscreen
I recommend sunscreen for every client because it is the easiest and cheapest way to keep your skin youthful for years to come. I am extra religious with SPF during pregnancy, wearing a hat, reapplying etc. I love our tinted SPF and wear shade medium in the summer for a little more color.
#4 Biome Balancing Serum
During pregnancy my skin feels more delicate. It doesn’t like as much exfoliation and wants more barrier support and hydration. The Biome Balancing Serum is unlike anything on the market and can benefit ANYONE. It’s spore technology works with your skins microbiome to increase barrier health and overall skin health. This results in improved acne, improved hydration, brighter, more even skin tone and more.
#5 Belly care
While I don’t think there is a way to fully prevent stretch marks, I do like taking collagen, using a belly cream and oil twice a day, and dry brushing daily (AM) during pregnancy to support the skin and turn over skin cells as it grows.
